Foundation repair
We start with the cracks in the brick or block at the base of your house, find what's moving, and repair the masonry so it carries the wall again.
Capstone Little Rock Masonry & Concrete is a masonry contractor based in Little Rock, repointing and repairing brick on older homes and building retaining walls, walks and fireplaces, with the owner on site for every job.

Little Rock is where I learned this trade, carrying block for my dad long before he let me lay a course, and it's where we're based. Most of the calls we get here are about older brick homes with joints that have gone soft and sandy, a crack running through a wall, or a walk or retaining wall that's been on the list for years. We do the same work in North Little Rock and in the cities around it, like Sherwood and Maumelle.
The price mostly comes down to how much brick or mortar has to come out, how hard the old work is to match, and how easy the wall or yard is to get to. The schedule turns on whether the job needs a permit and how long it takes to find brick that matches yours. When I come out, I look at the work in person and write up what we'd do and why, so you've got your own figure in hand instead of a guess.
I come out to look at each job myself and then work on it with the crew, so the person who wrote up your estimate is the one standing at your wall.
On older brick, mortar that's harder or a different color than the original can fight the wall, so we match the mix and the brick before we lay anything.
We're fully licensed and insured, and our work is satisfaction guaranteed, so you know where things stand before anyone sets a trowel on your house.
We start with the cracks in the brick or block at the base of your house, find what's moving, and repair the masonry so it carries the wall again.
Chimneys on older houses usually show wear first at the top, with loose bricks and washed-out joints, so we rebuild the damaged courses and repoint the rest to match.
On homes that had tuckpointing to begin with, a colored joint with a thin contrasting line down the middle, we rake out the old work and redo it so the wall reads like it did.
Spalled faces, cracked bricks and loose ones around steps and sills get cut out and replaced one at a time, with salvaged or matched brick so the patch doesn't stand out.
We dig out the old drive, build a packed base under it and lay pavers in a pattern that suits the house, so single pieces can be lifted and reset later.
Sloped yards that keep washing into the drive or patio get a wall built on a dug footing with drainage behind it, so water doesn't build up and push it over.
When older brick or stone needs more than one fix, we work through cleaning, repointing and replacing bad units together, keeping as much of the original material as we can.
We build masonry fireplaces and surrounds inside the house or out on the patio, laying the firebox, hearth and face in brick or stone picked to suit the room.
We set stone veneer on house fronts, foundation skirts and fireplace walls over a prepared backing, so it's fastened and drained properly instead of just stuck to the surface.
Block walls for garden edges, privacy and outbuildings go up on a poured footing, with reinforcement and filled cores where the wall needs the strength, and a finish face if you want one.
For additions, crawl spaces and replacement work, we lay block foundation walls level and plumb on the footing, because everything built on top depends on that first course being right.
We build the masonry side of an outdoor kitchen, from the block base and counters to the grill surround and brick or stone face, laid out around how you cook.
Front walks and side paths get a dug and packed base before the brick, stone or pavers go down, which is what keeps them from heaving and tripping someone later.
Garden walls, screen walls and brick additions to the house are laid with brick and mortar chosen to match what's already on your property, so the new wall looks like it belongs.
We lay natural stone for walls, steps, planters and columns, fitting each piece by hand and setting it in mortar or dry-stacking it, depending on what the spot calls for.
When joints have gone soft, sandy or recessed, we rake them out to sound mortar and repack them with a mix matched to the original in strength and color.
Send the form and we'll reply within one business day to set a time. I come out, look at the work in person and write up what we'd do and why, free and with no pressure to book.
The estimate costs nothing and happens at your property, because I can judge a joint or a crack much better standing in front of it than from a description.
You get a write-up of what we'd do and why in plain words, so you can read it over, ask me about any line and decide on your own time.
If a crack or a worn joint can sit a while longer, I'll say so, and I'm happy to explain the same thing twice until it makes sense to you.
Here are straight answers to the permit and licensing questions Little Rock homeowners ask us before they book masonry work.
The City of Little Rock's Building Codes Division issues construction permits in the city, and it also handles plan review and inspections for building work. Whether your particular job needs one is something we check with the office that covers your address before we start, and when a permit is needed, we take care of applying for it.
On private development projects, the City's Engineering Division reviews, inspects and enforces work on retaining walls, driveways, sidewalks and stormwater drainage. If your wall or drive is part of a larger project like that, its review can affect when we can start, so sorting out which office covers your job is one of the first things we do.
The City of Little Rock sets its business license assessment period as October 1st through November 1st. Businesses that hold or want a City business license assess during that window, so it asks nothing of you as a homeowner, though it's always fair to ask a contractor about their licensing before they start on your house.
Each city below has its own page about the masonry work we do there. If your address isn't listed, call or send the form and ask, since we work across central Arkansas.
Call (501) 274-1083 any day of the week, early morning through late evening, or send the form and tell me what you've spotted.
